  • Direct communication via phone, SMS, email, or WhatsApp
  • In-person visits to our warehouse for appraisals or loan transactions
  • Automated website analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel)

3A. Public Loan Status Portal

Our public loan portal at kingofpawn.com.au/loan-portal.html allows customers to check the status of their pawn loan by entering their vehicle registration number (Ticket ID).

  • What is displayed: Loan status (active or expired), outstanding balance, and redemption expiry date only.
  • What is NOT displayed: Customer names, phone numbers, addresses, or any other personal identifiers are never shown on the portal.
  • Data source: The portal uses a static, anonymised data file. No personal information is transmitted to or stored on any external server when you use this portal.
  • Access control: Results are only returned if the exact vehicle registration number is known to the enquirer. This is designed so that only the vehicle owner or an authorised person can reasonably access this information.

4. Why We Collect and Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your loan enquiries and provide pawn loan quotes
  • Process and manage pawn loan transactions as required by law
  • Communicate updates about your loan, stored asset, or redemption
  • Improve our website and services through aggregated analytics
  • Display relevant advertisements on Facebook and Instagram (via Meta Pixel)
  • Comply with our obligations under the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act 1996 (NSW)

We will never use your personal information for purposes that you would not reasonably expect or that are unrelated to our core pawnbroking services.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with the following trusted third parties only as necessary:

  • NSW Police / Regulatory Authorities — We are legally required to report second-hand dealer transactions to NSW Police under the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act 1996. This is a legal obligation, not a discretionary disclosure.

6. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access:

  • Our websites use HTTPS (TLS encryption) at all times
  • All form submissions are transmitted securely over encrypted connections
  • Contact form data is delivered directly to our secure business email
  • We do not store payment card information
  • Vehicle valuation data entered on our estimator tool is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers

No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme.

7. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law:

  • Enquiry and contact form data: Up to 2 years, or until you request deletion
  • Pawn loan transaction records: Minimum 7 years, as required by NSW law
  • Website analytics data: As per Google Analytics retention settings (14 months by default)

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our websites use the following tracking technologies:

  • Google Analytics (gtag.js): Collects anonymised session data to help us understand website traffic. You can opt out via Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
